Lord Newby visits Andel head office in Marsden, as turnover and exports continue to grow

16-09-2019

Lord Newby OBE, Leader of the Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords, has visited Andel’s head office in Marsden, Huddersfield, to tour the facilities, meet staff and hear about the company’s growth strategy and export success. Andel is Britain’s largest manufacturer of specialist in-building water, oil and gas leak detection systems and employs over 70 people split between Marsden, County Durham and London. All of Andel’s R&D and manufacturing takes place in Marsden, including the production of its unique Floodline leak detection system. Lord Newby last visited Andel’s head office six years ago and was impressed with developments since then: “Andel was founded on research development and has always had fantastic ideas, a great team and huge potential to grow. Since I last visited Andel the company has gone through a period of transition following the death of its founder Ian Pogson in 2014. It’s fantastic to see Andel now on the other side of that, with turnover more than doubling since my last visit and exports up 20 per cent year on year. As the team seek to capitalise on new growth markets outside the EU, the future looks extremely bright for Andel, despite the uncertainty of Brexit.” Julie Greenwood, managing director of Andel said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Lord Newby back to Marsden to see how far we’ve come in the last six years. It seemed the perfect moment to celebrate with our team and mark the progress we’ve made. We have set high targets for the next four years to take our turnover from £2.2m in 2014 to £12m by 2022 and are on track to reach them. We continue to develop new products and markets and are extremely excited about the future.” For over a quarter of a century, Andel has worked across all major industry sectors in the UK and globally with customers including the London Stock Exchange, Unilever, Land Rover, HSBC, Vodafone and the British Museum; as well as Windsor Castle and St James’ Palace.
